Some Police Reports
Here are a few of the original police reports from the Baran case, with the children’s names changed. These reports should be taken with more than a grain of salt. When you contrast police-report descriptions of videotaped child interviews with transcripts of the actual interviews, the inaccuracies and omissions make the police biases obvious. I include these reports, however, for their historical importance and because they serve to illustrate not only how the children’s testimony evolved over time, but also inconsistencies with adult testimony at the trial.
